

INPAWS 2009 SMALL GRANT AWARDS
The INPAWS Small Grants and Awards Committee reviewed proposals submitted by the February 1, 2009 deadline and made the following awards, totalling $1997.00:
1. $497 to Jonathan Bauer, Department
of Biology, Indiana University, Bloomington, to study the effect of planting paw paw (Lindera
benzoin) and spicebush (Asimina triloba) after removing amur honeysuckle
(Lonicera maackii) on the native plant community in Cascades Park, Bloomington.
2. $500 to Pat Brown, Beautification Chairman,
Irvington Terrace CrimeWatch, Indianapolis, to beautify the Washington Street highway entrance to the
Irvington neighborhood by planting native shrubs and grasses.
3. $500 to Roy Johnson, Agricultural Science
Instructor, East Central High School, Saint Leon, for high school Landscape Management students to
design, install, and maintain a planting bed using native plants.
4. $500 to Michael Phelps, Town of Brookston, to plant an acre of
native prairie grasses and forbs in the Heart to Heart Walking Park.
