WHAT: Climate Change: The Science, How Our Weather is Changing, and Some Likely Effects on Plant Communities

WHO: Kevin Tungesvick, Restoration Ecologist, Spence Restoration Nursery

WHEN: February 21 (Thursday), 7:30 PM – 9:00 PM

WHERE: The Delaware Township Community Center / 9094 East 131st Street, Fishers, IN. The driveway is marked “Delaware Township Government Center,” which is in front of the Community Center. People using Bing Maps for directions, be advised that Exit 5 is now Exit 205. People coming north on I-69 should disregard signs for Fishers and follow the signs for State Road 37 North/Noblesville.

PROGRAM CONTENT: With a degree in Atmospheric Science from Purdue University and a plethora of knowledge pertaining to native plant community restoration, Kevin will discuss recent climate trends and how Indiana’s natural communities may react to these trends in the not-so-distant future. Light refreshments will be served.

WHAT: Go Green – Grow Native Initiative

WHO: Ellen Jacquart, Director of Northern Indiana Stewardship, The Nature Conservancy (TNC)

WHEN: March 13 (Wednesday), 5:30 PM – 6:30 PM

WHERE: TNC Indiana Field Office(Efroymson Conservation Center) / 620 East Ohio St, Indianapolis, IN. Note: there is limited parking; depending on the number of people that attend, some may need to find alternative parking nearby.

PROGRAM CONTENT: Ellen has extensive experience regarding the effects of non-native invasive plants on native plant communities. This talk will focus on how members of the Central Chapter of INPAWS can get involved in encouraging local nurseries to sell native plants. A light dinner (pizza) will be served.
