Empowering Volunteers
The Cookbook breaks down officer duties, committee responsibilities, and supporting roles into discrete functions that use specific talents and expertise. Think of these as “job descriptions” for engaging volunteers in the work of INPAWS.
IMPORTANT: To be most effective, volunteers should take on tasks that inspire or excite them, not just things they already know how to do. Encourage them to try something new that they think would be fun. The necessary pointers can be furnished by pairing them with experienced members.
Your Feedback Wanted
This Cookbook is a living document that can be updated as we find better ways to do our work. To pose a question or mark up a section with your ideas, suggestions, cautions, etc.:
1. Click on a particular topic to download a Word file to your computer.
2. Save the file under a new identifying name, e.g. GardenTour_MyName.docx, and use this file to mark up your changes.
3. Make any changes you’d like, using the redlining feature or simply highlighting your changes or questions with another color.
4. Send the marked up file to webmaster@inpaws.org.
The webmaster will determine how the proposed changes affect other functions, will do minor editing, and will bring up issues to other committee chairs or the Council as needed.
If you have general questions about the Cookbook, please address them to webmaster@inpaws.org.
